Dr Shamma Al Mazrouei
Executive Director of International Patient Care

Dr Shamma Al Mazrouei is the Executive Director of International Patient Care (IPCC), having joined the Department of Health Abu Dhabi in September 2021. Responsible for providing oversight and leading the IPCC teams to deliver high quality services to patients requiring medical treatment abroad, Dr Shamma ensures the timely processing of requests, compliance with government regulations, collaboration with external and internal healthcare centers of excellence, and the facilitation of smooth transition of care between external and internal healthcare entities.

Dr Shamma was formerly the Chief Operating Officer at Sheikh Khalifa Medical City and also the Operations Management Lead in the implementation of the Sinopharm Clinical Trials in the UAE – a role that saw her establish the protocol for the emergency use of the vaccine for frontliners in the Abu Dhabi community. Her invaluable experience and knowledge about coronavirus transmission saw her serve as a member of the National Committee for COVID 19 in the UAE.

Other executive healthcare sector roles that Dr Shamma has held include executive positions in SEHA Ambulatory Health Services as a Manager and Director. She is an established Family Medicine Consultant with a special interest in mental health, childhood development and the management of chronic diseases. Dr Shamma is an active participant in several committees and is currently a member of the board of directors for the Emirates Health Services Corporation and a Member of the Board of Directors of ADHDS.

Dr Shamma is a graduate of UAE University, Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences with honours in MBBS.
